Any pics of your winch install Mr Hmmwv? Also it would be nice to see some pics of your truck out in the bush. Cheers, Chilli..:)

Any updates on this? I am considering purchasing one of these, not really sure why but I want one..... I have looked at plan b supply and custom combat trucks, anyone else know of a supplier short of going the auction route. I want to keep total "investment" under 40k, but I want hard top and hard doors, some sound deadening, paint, seats, and possibly a/c.

Stay FAR away from Plan B they are the bottom of the barrel.

I would look at Damage Control Customs as well as Black Dog Customs. They are both very reputable builders with good track record. I know both of the owners personally and do business with them regularly. If you are on the West Coast Retired War Horses would be a good bet.

There are plenty of Facebook groups and the best place to get intel is Steel Soldiers.

If you have any questions PM me and i will try to help. I have built a few of these. My last one was a Gov Planet truck and I got into the m998 for $6,100 plus fees.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for those 2 suppliers. One question, after looking at their sites it appear they keep the military look, one thing attractive about plan b is getting one a little less military all ready to go. Is their rep not very good? I don't mind spending the money to get one right, but I don't want an extravagant build either. I just signed up on steel soldiers and have been looking around. Most on their seem to be fairly stock, still camo, etc. There is a brand new never used light armored one on steel soldiers for 80k. I am tempted but that is a lot of money for something I will drive less than 5k a year. Ideally I would like to get something under 40k that has been gone thru mechanically as much as possible, maybe with any known trouble spots fixed. It seems grounding is big on these, also the electrics under the dash, and perhaps engine cooling are trouble spots.

Plan B just has a horrible reputation for bad products and an even worse reputation for service after the sale. Plus everyone hates the camper windows in a hmmwv.

Most of the guys do keep them camo on SS as it is a military site, but you will find a wealth of info on the trucks.

If you plan on driving it you want a later model truck with a 4 speed and a 6.5 turbo. That will cost a little more but it definitely worth it. The 3 speed trucks top out at 55-60 mph.

The best place to find info on upgrades other than military would be Facebook groups. As much as i hate to recommend that.

I don’t know you or know your budget but if you are shooting for creature comforts in a hmmwv it’s going to be an uphill battle. They can be made somewhat comfortable but it’s a custom job. They are loud, have zero storage and slow.

You may want to look to an H1. They have a full interior and overdrive. You can find them fairly cheap down here in the south.
