The whole thing is a scam, nothing more.

They keep half the $1,000,000 generated by entry fees, minus some decals and miscellaneous expenses. It seems more than a bit gauche to me, but not illegal.

According to their own rules, they can collect $1000 from 1000 riders, cancel the thing because someone allegedly speeds and nobody gets a refund.

Ah. Somehow I managed to not see that. One can only hope that Karma does what it does with these folks.

if I came across a little rude or strident in my earlier comments. This thing is a pet peeve of mine cause I know what's involved in actually putting on as well as participating in long distance motorcycle events.

I believe in Karma too, I'm also hoping for some land based interdictions...;^)

I certainly understand. It's terrifically difficult to cultivate a positive image in the non-riding public's eye already without having this stuff churning in the background (or worse, churning in the foreground).
