I stopped in at this Costco way north of Seattle today to run in and buy some warm gloves, while out on a fall country back road drive through some of the sprawling agricultural areas of Western Washington.

The fall colored leaves on the deciduous trees along these slow, winding roads of course were brilliant and beautiful, lit up like giant flaming tiki torches.

And recent heavy snow was glowing bright white in the strong low sunlight hitting the tops of Hurricane Ridge on the Olympic Range west, and on the heights of the dormant volcano we call Mount Baker to the north.

But my biggest surprise (and treat) for the day perhaps was seeing this sparkling new INEOS Quartermaster up close, parked right out in front of the main entrance of Costco, with the price sticker in the window showing you that you could now actually buy one of these amazing rigs with the assistance of this great discount store!

When a big national box store like Costco now promotes the sale of your pricey, custom bespoke vehicles, I guess you can say you have finally reached the pinnacle of your success, INEOS!

Anyway, with great effort and sadness I was able to keep my checkbook in my pocket and I escaped from the store back out to our tiny camper van to continue our travels, with only a few pairs of thick wool blend socks, a pair of black insulated gloves, and a big jar of M’nM peanut candles to show for my efforts 😁.

So no, no new $93,000 truck for me today 🫤.

Just my opinion but I don't think it's neat. I think it's a mistake. Akin to seeing a Porsche for sale at Walmart. Just doesn't fit. In fact I can't fathom how anyone in the marketing dept of either company could possibly think this is a good idea for either company.

But what do I know. Every day the world circles the drain in a new and interesting way. That sounds rather negative. I'm sure AI will fix it all.

With the price of a new SUV from the major US manufacturers today, an INEOS really isn't that far off. Subaru options are pushing ~$50K in many cases, and Bronco II's locally are in the upper $80K range around me, so an INOES 'station wagon' at $75K~$85K isn't really that far off IMHO.

Add things like the Ford Raptors and various GM/Chevy options, and again, the price of an INEOS station wagon isn't that far off, and could actually be less.

The QuarterMaster really isn't my thing, but I know a lot of people around me prefer them more than the Ford, Chevy, Ram, ... options.

I agree, my comments weren't about price though I do think that hefty discount is a joke.

I just think it lacks class and romance to buy such a nice vehicle from a wholesale store. I despise car dealers and dealerships but if there's any romance left it's the experience of buying something unique from a niche dealership and having that memory. I went through the purchase process, including pick up day, of a Grenadier with a friend of mine. We came away with a couple of new friends, schwag, a great road trip, etc. Buying a nice truck at Costco wouldn't have been the same, no matter how they handle the sale.

Woulda thought I'd see a 4 pack for 75 grand each or something. You know, more than I would need in a year, but too good a price to pass up

To get a $50K Subaru, you really are reaching into thier uppermost stratosphere of most highly optioned, most sought after models.

You can barely touch a fairly appointed GMC for $50k, though

Agree with you on the first paragraph. Second paragraph is either Charlie Brown or Marvin the Robot. Not sure which.

ALTHOUGH...
A lot of successful suburbanites shop at these big box stores...

The new Subaru Wilderness models I saw at MTN West, Flagstaff, and East were all in the upper $40K region without all the farkles added like RTT, crash bars, sliders, etc. They have taken a big price hit for the coming model year with a devalued dollar, tariff impacts, and general inflation. Toyota FourRunners are also up significantly for next year, really driving the price difference between them and the new Land Cruiser/Prado 250 to basically parity in terms of general price.

With an almost $9K rebate from INEOS plus an additional $2K for any Costco member right now, Grenadiers are available in the low $70K range until the end of the month at least.

At ~$70K, that puts them in the same price range as a lot of "normal" SUV options and a lot of pickups with less than the most extravagant specs.

I am not a Costco member, so I don't know if you can actually buy one there or not.

Sewell INEO out of the Dallas region is my "local" dealer, and they confirmed that if I buy one from them, the $2K Costco rebate applies, and I never need to step foot in a Costco store.

Smart play by Ineos and cool to see. I saw one at my local Costco just the other day.

The focus here shouldn't be on the "discount". It's only a partnership, no real discount given buying it at Costco because it is not Costco's inventory. The focus here is the visibility the new make/model is going to get and how the demand for the Ineos is going to change after this. Of the people who shop at Costco, how many of them are car people and know what an Ineos is? 5%, maybe? That changed overnight.

Even my wife who hardly knows the model of her own car noticed it and asked me questions about it. I saw at least 30 people look at it in the time it took my fat ****** to wolf down my chicken bake.

Buying from Costco saves dealing with car salesman, that's why some folks go that route,IMO. Having that vehicle parked at Costco's will increase visibility, so positive in the long run at no cost.

Circling the drain,
Feeling the pain,
Expo Scott says better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
In interesting ways that
just crossed his mind

Trouble with you is
The trouble with me
AI’s got the fix in
But we still don't see
No time to pretend
You know it's the end
More paranoid dreams
It’s one big deadend

Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion
Just crossed his mind

You make my point about Subaru pricing. Thier top tier barely makes it near 50k. You can get a base model or even mod range for in the 30's easily all day every day.

As for the Ineos, as much as I like the ideas of a third party taking what LandRover modernized and bringing it back to its roots...after spending that kind of $ for a domestic pickup or SUV, you have immense wealth of parts and service available. With the Ineos, not so much, unfortunately.
