Holy U Joints batman

So i have a 1998 LR disco 1, bought it in 2000.
I consider myself mechanically inclined, with just about every tool in my garage.
I have been under my rover countless times and never saw any of the grease fittings.
Until six months ago that is.
Needless to say, my u joints were completely shot and began shaking the truck and making all sorts of weird noises.
After 14+ years they have been changed and the axel gear oil too :)

I am just really impressed that the u joints laster so long.
Holy difference in how the truck feels. NICE & SMOOTH!!!!!

BTW, truck has 132k miles and i do pull trailers on occasion.

Kudos to Land Rover!!!

You sure you had u-joints to both diffs?

The rear wasn't a weird-looking thing we call (and hate) a rotoflex?

rotoflex depends on which market for fitment dates , and if you do any sort of suspension lift , switch to u/j as they dont last very long !!!

Heck, my '94 has u-joints...not a rotoflex.

...because I pretzeled the rear driveshaft and had a new one made :)

Plan old 1310's on the rear propshaft :)

The O.P.'s could have easily been modified before he owned it.

Looks like you dodged a bullet. I have heard of u-joints failing and sending the driveshaft through the floorboards or banging up everything underneath. Be diligent about lubing them and changing all the fluids regularly.
