Thanks to the awesome builds on here I took the plunge into the world of building my own trailer. (Huge shoutout to tte30m3, look up his build if you haven't seen it yet.)

Trailer will have on board water with a pump. Other then that its a glorified cargo trailer. Eventually I'd like to add a RTT and a water heater. 10 gallon tank will be under the frame just in front of the axle. Next year i hope to ditch the axle/leaf springs and go with the Timbren setup.

Trailer will get skinned in 14G sheet metal and then roll on bedlined. I'm using a 60" axle with 6x5.5 hubs. Waiting on BORA to ship out some 2" wheel spacers so I can set the trailer on its own weight with some OEM 4runner wheels. Tires are same size as the toyota too, 285/70R17. Just some used Coopers I got from Discount for 120$ OTD.

Blue sea switch panel, fuse box, bus bar, and couple other small electric add ons as well.

Feel free to criticize, add more ideas to spend more money, and any other comments you feel necessary (or not necessary lol)

Trailer frame consists of a 48x56 box, side pieces are 23" tall inside to inside (saved me from a whole lotta waste somehow lol). I was planning on all .120 wall 2x2 square but the metal supplier gave me a 10' of 3/16's. So the top of the box is the thicker stuff. Fine by me, i'm not gonna complain lol. The front section was just cut at 45's for simplicity.

The pull bar is 1/4" with some 3/16 plate as a gusset. Total length I believe is around 11'.

Skid plate is also 3/16.

The plan is to have the back end open up like a door with a drop down table (yeah, more "inspiration" from other members) and also have one door on one side of the front section.

Had 30 minutes today to drill some holes and install some Rivetnuts/plus nuts/blind nuts/nutserts whatever you wanna call them. Plan is to run the skin up to the track. Now i have adjustable spots for tie downs. I ran these on a bed rack i built for my titan, worked so well for strapping down anything. I think i'll also add some sort of abs/plastic strips along the top skin so cargo sits on those instead of the actual sheet metal. I think rezarf did something like that for the top of his box.

Got the skin going. Of course the shop sheared the two triangle pieces wrong so I cut new pieces to weld on to some of the existing cut ones. Welding sheet metal never goes well. Other then that it's looking awesome. pics....

Thanks...its a 48x56 box. The front box is 24" deep. Overall length is 10-11'. kinda forget how long i made the tongue

Started on the fenders. What a pain in the ***. Still haven't received my 2" wheel spacers. It SHOULD put the tires just barely poking out past the fenders. We shall see though.

AH how nice to see somebody else who went the same route as me. Clean work dude. only difference is i see you are using steel sheet metal as your walls vs the aluminum route i went. Still this work looks hell clean. look forward to seeing more.

Today i got the other side fender work half done. also got the rear door welded up. just need to find some hinges for it. Home Depot piano hinges aint gonna cut it lol. however i'm wanting to weld the hinge on the side of the trailer and then to the "back" of the rear door. might not work with those type of hinges.

Keep in mind your door doesn't weigh that much. I had previously bought some super heavy duty greaseable hinges from a local steel shop but my dad urged me to go against it. He said those big hinges are more for big heavy fences. So i went with some small 2" barrel hinges. These are similar to what homes use for screen doors. They work perfect for my trailer. I used 2 on each of the 3 side doors and i used 4 hinges on the large rear door.

lights came today, so i welded a bracket for them to bolt to, finished up the driver side fender. Coming together like a trailer finally...

Tires are mounted! fenders are perfect width, glad they turned out how they did.

towed it around the block with some crap loaded in it. Towed fine, then again the 6.7 torque and stiff leaf springs doesn't feel anything less then 10k lol. insert crappy ford jokes about the loaded gooseneck hooked to the dodge in the background lol.

the good news is nothing fell apart lol. after this i welded the fenders to the 1" square tubing sticking off the side of the body. today i hope to get the top on, the bottom finished welded to the frame, and the taillights wired. I wanna hook it up to the toyota and see if i can feel the trailer doing anything funny.

and yea, winter lawn is starting to burn off...now is the awkward time where it's 90 but still cool in the mornings so the Bermuda doesn't wanna grow in yet.

hooked it up to the 4runner yesterday and towed it across town for some freeway miles. Also put it on the scale, its 1k with some of our camping stuff. Thats without battery, water, fuel, spare water jug, and an empty ice chest. After our first camping trip i'll reassess the leaf springs and possibly add shocks.
