It looks like there are quite a few West Coast folks here. It would be fun to see some other 4WD vans and compare notes. Over on the ADV site, there are a bunch of guys who get together in WA on a regular basis to share beers and ideas. Would there be any interest in something similar? If so, where are you? Currently, were in Anacortes, but will be heading to Alaska soon............Arctic Traveller

There are a bunch of Van guys from WA in the vans section. This keeps coming up. We should do it.

Check out northwestoverland.com also, we do monthly GTG's that involve beer. Im in Kenmore ( N seattle)

Maybe we could all meet up at our grand opening for MULE Expedition Outfitters in Issaquah in May -- not exactly wilderness adventure, more like urban jungle, but good root beer at the XXX Root Beer Drive In (the same parking lot). We are working hard to get the shop open by late April and will have a grand opening party in May. Maybe it's time for an Expedition Vehicle Show at the XXX. They have 37 car shows a year and not one is for Expedition Rigs yet.

Regardless where the meet up happens, we'd be in!

I just got my summer work schedule today, and it looks like I'll be departing March 29th for Alaska, so any time prior would be great for me, but I understand it's short notice for most. Still, I'm in Seattle most of the time till then, with one quick trip to Vancouver Isl for a couple days camping before departing for AK. If anyone cares to throw out some ideas, the first beer's on me. Otherwise, hopefully we can put something together in the fall..................Arctic Traveller

Not meaning to thread hijack as I am building a truck camper not a van, but how is the drive to Alaska in March? Is it easy or pretty rough (snow and such)?

The trip to Alaska all depends on the weather, but in general it's just fine. The road is paved most of the way, and is fairly well maintained. I've done it in a 2wd Toyota P/U in January

Yes, that's what we were thinking too! The XXX has 37 Car Shows a year on Sundays -- maybe we could arrange a Saturday Expedition Vehicle Meet Up and Show.
