How much does your vehicle weigh?

Considering the front to rear ratio, does the steering feel light? How much difference in tire pressure?

The front practically floats. :sombrero: The only time I notice a difference is after I drive another vehicle. I run the tire pressures the same at 35 psi, though I can run the front tires at 25 psi.

total: 5600lbs
front axle: 2600lbs
rear axle: 3040lbs
front driver: 1280lbs
front passanger:1320lbs
rear driver: 1660lbs
rear passenger: 1380lbs

no water, full tank of gas, me (165lbs)

Running 265/75 R16 D load range tires. I guesstimate in full load travel mode is around 6000lbs. After reading other rigs here, my rig seems to have room to grow.

The factory original curb weight was 3675 lbs. The rear Dana 35 was swapped out for a Dana 44 many years ago. I am still running the original Dana 30 high pinion on the front. 354, 037 miles today.

Good for the rear, but not the front too? As I said, with 354,000 miles, I guess you know if the bearings are a problem. ;)

I forgot to mention, your F/R weight distribution and cross-weighting would make many sports cars jealous! :victory:

Great thread. I will take the suggestion and get mine weighed next time out.

I weighed my 100 Series Land Cruiser, fully kitted but unpacked and little gas at 6890 lbs a couple years ago. It has a few mods to help the weight, but I am fairly sure I am over the top. Handles great under any circumstance.

I'll get back to you on this one.

Cheers,

Yeah, contrary to popular belief the high pinion Dana 30 doesn't crumble to dust as soon as it leaves the mall parking lot. ;)

I actually don't know much about those or their reputation. I was just thinking, being that much over the GVWR, it could be a problem.

With that many miles on it, I guess not.

I'm also just pointing out for others, it's another thing you need to think about when exceeding GVWR. Not just brakes and suspension, bearings could be a problem too.

Interesting. The curb weight is 4700lbs, 19 gallons of gas is about 120. I'm guessing 100lbs each for the bumper, 150 for the winch, 50 for the dog guard, you're at... you're at about 5220. I don't know where the other 400 lbs comes from Was anybody in it?

GVWR is 6200lbs, so you've got about 600 lbs to go. Not bad, but not a lot for 2 people and gear.
