Hey Guys....this is perhaps the most important question ever to grace this forum!

Should I use dry ice? Just trying to figure out how to keep some beer cold for a day or two.

Most of us have already breached this highly important issue....and simply depends on $$$$

Cheap ...coleman 6 day extreme cooler and Ice, should keep for 3 days with use

I used to use two...1 with the beer , opened regularly.....and the other to resupply the first each day...

cold beer for 4-5 days easy...adding dry ice can help but where I was there was none.

For more $$$ simply get an engle 45 fridge and plug it in.

Problem solved....

Also for longer trips wine and rum use less ice and you still get drunk and also minimise your outward weight and waste out haulage

If you're only talking a day or two, the Coleman 6 day (or similar) will do just fine. My ice lasted 3 days in the shade last month. Or just drink your beer faster!!!

Speaking as an American: Separate coolers for food and drink makes it easier to keep them both cold. If you start running out of ice, you can always sacrifice the food.

Speaking as a Brit: What's all the fuss about cold beer?

Cheers,
Graham

I have no experience with dry ice. Anyone who has used dry ice, please post up how it compares to regular ice. Also if it is better, does it justify the added expense and hassle of finding it vs ice which is free?

Dry Ice is really cold….to cold to put beer on. I read an in depth magazine article once on the best way to chill beer, and the winning method was ice with water. That was to 32 degrees or there about. I am fond of the Engel method these days though.

I have messed around with the dry ice that comes in meat shipments through the mail and it does not seem like the appropriate method for chilling beer.

I have used dry ice for keeping one cooler a dedicated freezer with meat in with very good results. The more insulation the better, even a sleeping bag over the cooler delays the melting (evaporating?) of the dry ice.

So the question is how to make beer last (cold) for a few days???

Wow.. my beverages seem to disappear in one night! I have never thought about keeping them cold for longer periods... :friday:

I recommend an Engel.. you can also keep ice frozen for Margaritas when you run out of beer!

Dry ice is great,, get the dry ice in pellets,, place a dozen pellets in an empt plastic soda/pop bottle(one liter) and then about 1/4 way with water,, cap and throw away,, wait,, while drinking beer,, note... best at night,, especially if others in your group do not know about it.. and yes you will have some cleaning up to do in the morning..

Other than that the dry ice is just too cold for beer.. and evaporates too quickly
