How to stay cool

I'm in Mississippi. I try to find a shady spot and I use 12 volt fans. At night with all the windows open, except screens of course, and fans it stays comfortable enough to sleep. For what ever reason being up higher seems to help...probably just my imagination. Camping close to water seems to help also. I camped some last August, a month I usually try to avoid but even then I was ok. I do have to say I'm one of those that heat does not really bother me that much. It has to get pretty brutal, and I realize in SE OK it can, before I'm really uncomfortable.

Keep your windows open during the day to take advantage of the breeze. It won't get much cooler than ambient, but it sure beats the oven that they can become. I use a pair of Coleman tent fans on the particularly warm nights. IIRC, there was someone on here that put some reflective foam (similar to the stuff windshield sun screen are made of) between the fly and the tent with moderate success.
