I'm considering a 4WD conversion for the Scout II.

So your Scout II is a 2WD right now?

You can keep the rear axle, as long as the front you use has the same gear ratio on the ring & pinion.

I had one Scout II 4x4 at the cabin, before I had my DL. (yep, loooooong time ago:elkgrin and that thing ws great! We bombed around on logging trails every weekend.

Those rigs are amazing where they go in stock form.:coffeedrink:

Shouldn't have to swap the rear axle, but the driveshaft will need to be redone (if swapping from an auto to a stick, the stick is usually shorter, requiring a longer rear shaft)

It'll depend on how the new drivetrain lines up with the old. But chances are you'll need a new drive shaft in the rear.

But, if it's a 2WD auto tranny, going to a manual w/transfer case, it might work out, but I would budget for it.:coffeedrink:

Are we talking $100 or $30,000 for the whole thing? That's what I'm wondering. I know if I have it done, it'll be local.
