Hummer H1 tires

Any review of these military take offs? They seem to go pretty cheap like around 75 dollars a tire.

I am specifically looking at the 37 " radials. They would go on a 92 ford diesel truck.

I apologize if this topic has been covered, I tried a search but didn't yield anything.

Looks like they got them to fit on a Jeep. If I did decide to use the rims also they should have the same lug pattern as my 92 ford 8x6.5. Not sure what the load range is but I imagine if they are at least D if not E.

The eightlug twopiece rims are rated for 35 psi, and were used with the bias plies on the HMMWV. The 12 bolts are rated for 50 psi. Backspacing is 7 inches. The 37 inch MT (Military Tread) OZ tire is a D, with pretty high rating (Ill look in the morning in the shed). The tire is harsh riding, and not always too round. We had a total flat, the tire is so heavy, it looked like we had runflats installed, turned out it was just beadlocks. That tire was 14 years old (yes I know too old, esp. here in the desert). It looked perfect on the sidewall, no cracks, but once flat, with the truck mashing it, it did show the age big time. (BTW the MT is now the MTR, Military Tread Revised). IF you use the twopiece wheel, a beadlock or runflat is the only save way (blowout on a freeway, tire hopefully stais put, till you can stop).

Carrying a Ford, should be ok. : lightly loaded HMMWV (one person, 300 lbs) they call for 26 psi, Full load (10300 lbs) 35 front, 40 rear. The uparmoreds still use that tire, and a new rim, to carry the extra weight/pressures.

Mounting the tires is a workout (have done a whole set, by hand). Torquespecs and sequence are very important, new O Rings and possibly hardware is needed.

We got some extras, PM for info. BTW if a surplus tire is really nice, (new and lots of tread),unfortunately it usually comes with a nail....

Military OZ: loadrange D, 3850 lbs at 50 psi cold.
The tire weighs about 90 lbs. A HMMWV rim is about 45 lbs, then ad the insert.
Also there are two styles of 12 bolt wheels.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking I might just use some procomp steel rims in 16.5 instead of the HMMWV rims.

Forgive my ignorance but I thought the backspacing on the HMMWV rims were -7 backspacing not +7?

Currently the truck has no lift and so I am thinking about this summer doing a 3" reverse shackle up front and possibly an add a leaf if I have to to clear the 37" tires. They look like great tires and at the price of a whole set equal to around one Toyo M/T, if I get 30,000 miles out of them or even 20k then I would be very much happy. I have some AT's on right now that will be dead by the end of the summer only after 30K!

Backspacing, 7 inches measured from inboard of the rim. (Not sure if thats + or -.) You should get 20 to 30 K miles out of the tires. When we got a load of suplusses: either old production, or a nail, or worn shoulder (HMMWVs like to go out of alignement, misteriously.) BTW we switched to 17 inch and are running BFGs, the ride is like night and day (in a good way) compared to the military stuff.
