hydraulic winch in a super duty

You know years ago I had a friend with a hydro milemarker winch. Sometimes it got the job done but a lot of times it would stalll his engine if the belt was really tight or the belt would slip. Then there was the stalled engine moments where the winch was worthless. Not to mention the leaky hoses and fittings he had to tighten on a constant basis.
Just my opinion and it aint worth much but I just done see the point or an advantage of a hydro winch over a good electric winch.

Hydro has its place. Our old beach wrecker had a hydro worked great. A second pump for just the winch not pulling the truck just other things i loved it. But all my rigs are and will always be Electric for self recovery. more options for power.

I just put a hydralic PTO on a 2000 F550 auto. Many autos dont have the output plate option, it had to be custom ordered from the factory, AND eve nIF you do have it the price $$$ of the pump and drive will make your head roll. I priced mine out and only one company made it and it was $3200. Since the truck/tranny is older and they had some on the self (not many Co.s upfitting trucks that old, I got them down to $1200.
