I Bought This 8' Pop-up Yesterday - Hopefully a Diamond in the Rough

Multiple Elk hunting trips over the last 2 seasons and my unknown camper is holding up nicely. I just removed the CO2 lifts and replaced them with (4) 12v linear actuators. Much easier than dealing with CO2 leaks, pinning, stopping the closure to tuck canvas etc. Here's a couple pics from Oct 2014 that shows the angle aluminum header, moved front lifts to the inside and the great job my mom did on the new canvas (black tape eliminates rub spots from the door when traveling). Plan to plug all the no longer needed drilled holes with fiberglass and paint it in a couple months when it warms up. My son did this Elk & Salmon decal I'll paint on it too.

Flysar: Where did you get the tent canvas? Also, did you purchase windows? I have an old 4 Wheel camper that I need to replace the sideliner on. The canvas may work better for me for the same reasons you mention plus the fact that a replacement sideliner costs around $700.00.

Thanks

I bought the canvas from a canvas tent making outfit out of ID. I'm pretty sure it was there 10 oz Cotton Duck fabric. We made the widows out of cloth screen door material from Home Depot and got the thread, clear poly and velcro from JoAnne Fabrics. If your windows are good I'd just cut an extra inch around them and then sew them into the new canvas; may not look the best but it will be a lot less trouble than sewing new ones.

$150.00? You must be living right or someone loves you! Reminds me of sail boat interiors of the 70's and 80's, molded, very nice! Post up more! :)

Looks like a great camper!

Where did you source the linear actuators from? I am in the process of replacing a lift system on my Roamin' Chariot and they look like a good way to go. Have they held up well to wind/snow etc?

Actuators are from Tampa Motions Company. I bought the 350lb model, they move slower, but I can add a roof rack and gear with plenty of reserve rating left. If you decide to go with these, I'm guessing others are the same, order the longest throw you can get away with. If you need 21" of lift get at least the 24" model, 30"+ would be better. Fully extended they are nearly at the end of the shaft and very wobbly. I needed 20" and originally ordered the 21" model but they shipped the 24" model and I'm glad they did.

I just installed them and haven't had the camper out since.
