I.D this antenna

Saw this truck on the way home from the mountains today. Any idea why type of antenna that is? Looks like a CB antenna next to it mounted on the roof.

Know as a Bug Catcher. Used for HF comms. More like a tree limb catcher. More interesting is the VHF/UHF antenna on the roof.

I think the roof mount might be one of those triband or quadband antennas.

Both have a reputation for performance, too. I remember back in the early 90s routinely hearing a guy on 80 meters using a Bug Catcher. I was always impressed by how he sounded.

I haven't been on HF much lately though. Maybe Screwdrivers and HI-Q antennas have everyone sounding like that these days.
