What I liked most about the kit, is that it is fitted perfectly to my rig, since it was built on my rig.

Ross and I did both of ours as a team. Both rigs are 94's and both bumpers went together slightly different. So take it stride, you'll love it when it's done.

For those of you that have this style of swing out, where exactly is it moving? Is it at the spindle, is it the cross arm twisting? Or is it the upright that holds the tire? Or at the latch? I would really like to know exactly where the problem is.

I am using 2"x2" .25 wall tubing, and I just can't see that moving with a couple hundred pound on it?

What am I missing?

The tire wiggles as you move down the road. The upright jiggles with the weight of the tire on it. No big deal if the welds are good and the weight isn't to much.

I have not seen the 4x4labs tire carrier up close. Can somebody explain the design of the latch system? Do the two swing carriers just latch together and that keeps it closed? Where are the stops to prevent the carriers from hitting the hatch, the gas shocks? Are the inside ends of the swing arm supported when closed?

Cool...so when is the 100 series kit going to be available???

I was at the lab yesterday picking up my bumper and they had several shells and kits for the hundy there.

They look just as good as the 80 series.

Isn't that a shot of Brett Toothill's 100 (dieselbigot)? I think that was a one off prototype for him.

Well, I decided at 4am, screw it...its almost daylight....time for a bumper install!

14 and a half hernias later....I'm done!

(at least til I have to take it all apart for powdercoating....)

I had a feeling the spare would take up almost the entire rear end...its just silliness.

Because of the lack of space I decided to mount the hi-lift on the outside of the ladder instead of the inside. I kept it at the ladder angle to keep it inside the body lines so I'm not pulling trees down with it.

The first tire fitment showed that the original angle for the spare was completely vertical meaning it stuck out far and just looked weird to me. I decided to do away with the 2 bolts that "pinch" the tire clover tube and weld it all up at the angle I wanted.

This allowed me to bring the tire closer to the body and the angle looks better IMO.

I haven't installed the little magic gas struts for the arms yet. Since the rounded head strut mounts are threaded like screws...am I going to have to drill holes and them tap them so the mounts can screw in?

This is as far as the tire swingout can go out because of the stops placement....the ladder swingout can go farther (I think it was like 135 degrees?).

Looks GREAT!!!

How is the wiggle factor? Are you concerned about covering that left tail light? It looks like you might have room to slide everything to the right?

There's only an inch between the tire and the can rack where it currently is. If I were to slide the ladder section over to the right it puts the hi-lift and ladder top out of the body area where I would be catching them on trail branches and whatnot.

Plus....I never drilled the holes since I never planned on having unboltable swingout parts....just welded every weldable joint.

I'm not really sure why there are bolts there unless someone wanted to change from a ladder to the no ladder, but an upright for the gas cans or cooler option.

The only bolt on part I kept bolt on is the gas can basket that mounts onto the first rung of the ladder so I can take it with or leave it.

Man that is a huge tire! Any flex in the swing out from the weight? Maybe a little flex is good instead of rigidity for that kind of weight. . . hmm
