I love my jeep

I'm on my third Jeep in 3 yrs but, I started late. I was impressed with a XJ that was on a trail ride with me. I have a S-10 Crew Cab that I had been working on for several yrs and the XJ was just more capable. I picked up a '92 that was in my subdivision for $1200 but, it was really to nice to fire up a sawzall to.

Then the kid who had the XJ on the trail ride, sold his to me for $2,000. I sold the first one for $2,000. I then wrenched and poured $2,000 into it to fix the kid's mistakes.

Even at $4K you can't buy a good ATV or drive it to work. It turned out somewhat capable.

The wife's first mistake was to tell me that I needed a hobby when I retired from 30 yrs with the government. Her second one was when she told me that I won't be happy until I had a jeep Jeep.
So, I found a '03 Rubicon that was stolen and recovered in TX. It had a good title, it cost $12K and it was 3 miles from the house. I sold the second XJ for $2K (that is where you get the "Just Empty Every Pocket from.)
Well, since I mainly trail ride and never really thought about expeditions, I started a minor build up and again, it is just capable but, will never see a trailer!

Hindsight would have made me wait on a long wheel base LJ. I do love the TJ but, when it came time to meet HenryJ in Moab last month, running the WRT and driving almost 4K miles, I chose the S-10. Little did I know back in '04 when I found a crew cab S-10 forum that I would end up here. Had I known everything then, I'd have a niceJEEP LJ expedition rig.

I now own Jeep number 3, a 2006 Wrangler LJ. There was a time that the idea of another vehicle, non-Jeep, was out of the question but I find myself thinking it might be time for a change. Of course if Jeep would put a diesel in the 4-door JK I could be convinced to stick with the Wrangler platform. Actually I would just like a second overland vehicle that is more family friendly and comfortable for long drives on tarmac. If pushed I don't think I could be content without a Wrangler in the garage.

I love 'em too, I've had two XJ's, a WJ and now I'm on my second TJ in a row. My current TJ is an '05 Willys ed. So it's prolly mine forever. I'm sure I'll get another, but not trading in the Willys. I wheel the crap out of it. This summer I'll start doing some adventuring with it, time and money allowing of course.

Hey

Well I started out late in life with Jeeps and bought my first one in 2006, it was an 86 CJ7 with a 3" black diamond lift, 1" lift in shackles and a Dana44 rearend, an older AMC 360V8, headers, eldbrock intake and carb, 33/12.5/15 BFG AT's and there was nothing better than no doors and a bikini top. Then I sold it......What was I thinking!
Now I drive a 99 WJ with a 4.7L V8 and the rest is stock; I have to admit it's ok, but I have a bad front drive shaft (POS, vibrations after running through some mud) and an intermittent enviromental controls for A/C, heater, defrost etc. (Just replaced resistor for blower motor, right rear axle seal, left from wheel bearing, brake rotors>>>JEEP.....Just E E Pocket holds true). Still its comfortable, fairly quick, four wheel drive is awesome in winter. I have a garvin roof rack and two KC daylighter up top. Next may be mud tires but I hate the wimpy size they come with (245/70/16) and even with a lift only gets you maybe one size up.
I want a new 4 door wrangler!

First Jeep was when I was 20 and that was 34 years ago, many have come and gone over these past years, all shapes, sizes, styles and colors.
In 04 I was needing a new vehicle for DD and work so bought a Liberty and said this is one I will not mod!!!! Now after lifting it, adding an ARB front bumper, roof rack Moab wheels ready to install 4.10s and lockers, maybe I will mod this one afterall:luxhello:
