I'm on my third Jeep in 3 yrs but, I started late. I was impressed with a XJ that was on a trail ride with me. I have a S-10 Crew Cab that I had been working on for several yrs and the XJ was just more capable. I picked up a '92 that was in my subdivision for $1200 but, it was really to nice to fire up a sawzall to.
Then the kid who had the XJ on the trail ride, sold his to me for $2,000. I sold the first one for $2,000. I then wrenched and poured $2,000 into it to fix the kid's mistakes.
Even at $4K you can't buy a good ATV or drive it to work. It turned out somewhat capable.
The wife's first mistake was to tell me that I needed a hobby when I retired from 30 yrs with the government. Her second one was when she told me that I won't be happy until I had a jeep Jeep.
So, I found a '03 Rubicon that was stolen and recovered in TX. It had a good title, it cost $12K and it was 3 miles from the house. I sold the second XJ for $2K (that is where you get the "

Pocket from.)
Well, since I mainly trail ride and never really thought about
expeditions, I started a minor build up and again, it is just capable but, will never see a trailer!
Hindsight would have made me wait on a long wheel base LJ. I do love the TJ but, when it came time to meet
HenryJ in Moab last month, running the WRT and driving almost 4K miles, I chose the S-10. Little did I know back in '04 when I found a crew cab S-10 forum that I would end up here. Had I known everything then, I'd have a nice
JEEP LJ expedition rig.
