Maxtrax are the single most used piece of recovery gear in the EEXP. They come in handy in so many situations. They were integrated into the build from the start and have been used all over North America over the past year of travel. 2wd or 4wd it doesn't matter, you're going to want at least one set of Maxtrax along for the adventure!

OK, silly video with fat guys, but I still don't know how tall they are when stacked.

Guessing both guys were almost 6ft so 12ft stacked.
I would just call a shop selling them and have them measure. The matts not the video models.

Sadly I'm on the other side of the world from my rig right now, and just caught this comment after visiting the Maxtrax HQ here in Australia only a few days ago. Not sure exactly the thickness of 2 stacked, but I'd guess less than 3".

If you don't have an easy place to store full-length sand mats such as the MaxTrax, you might look at the Traction Jack. I just did a preliminary review here.

They are 3" high so I would think you would gain about 1.5" to 2" with each layer in the stack, I store mine on the roof, this is just a stack of two in this photo

I bought a set for an extended trip through Utah last September. They look tough! I didn't use them, but I'm glad that I had them a long as there were few places to hook my winch up to.

Size: 1150mm; long, 330mm; wide and 70mm; high. Two stacked MAXTRAX are just 85mm; high, four are 115mm; high.

A little late but I finally got out my MaxTrax and measured them in anticipation of changing my storage and packing routine. I have four of the series-2 MaxTrax. Actual measurements are 45-3/16"L x 12-15/16"W. Stacked height for a pair is 3-1/8"H. Stack of four pieces is 4-9/16"H. This measured with a straightedge across the top of the nubs that are top/center. The trax have a slight crown, so don't take measurements at the edges. I didn't trust the website measurements but they are pretty much dead on.
