I need hitch help

Hey people, I need some help with getting a hitch on my Willys. I have a 42 MB thats been through several owners. For you purists out there, I didn't cut it up, modify it, or destroy a classic. I just bought a project and am trying to finish it to enjoy. My problem, one of the PO,s removed the K member and installed a fuel tank in its place. I'm sure that just the bumper is not strong enough to tow a expedition style trailer. from what I've seen, with the fuel tank there, there's not enough room to install a receiver style hitch. Maybe I'm mistaken. Anyone out there have any ideas or can steer me right? Thanks for any and all help.

Do you have pictures?
How original do you want to keep your Jeep?
Are you open to custom fabrication of the needed parts?
What is the weight of your trailer?
Where are you located? Your profile doesn't say.

There are a lot of people that admire the rig you have but know nothing of it's intimate workings. Pics may help inspire outside ideas and where you are located might bring out some local interest in helping with your challenge.

Shoot me a PM if I can help.

hitch help

Mr King, I don't have any pics yet. It's a long way from being stock, though I'm trying to not do anything drastic. I haven't got to start on the trailer yet, but I'm thinking it should be 2000-2500 fully loaded if that. As far as custom fab goes, seems like everything I've done or had done, was customized.I guess I'll have to fix my profile, Im a long way from you, up in western Washington. Thanks for the comeback, any ideas will be appreciated.
