You could use a lock rather than a cotter pin, on something like this. The bolt is stainless steel

Thanks. I forgot it was a shovel you mounted. I would like to mount a shovel on one side, and my hi-lift on the other. The hi-lift is the problem.
Quickfist recommends using three clamps for mounting a Hi-Lift.

Does the wing nut come loose often,i could easily use a lock instead of the cotter pin!
Thin sheetmetal is not going to support that load well, especially over bumps and vibration. You'd have to spread out the load by sandwiching the sheetmetal between two large surfaces, otherwise it's eventually going to tear.
