I think I found her, opinions please!

Hey everyone, so here's my story, I've been looking for a 4x van as a camping/surf/adventure vehicle for awhile, lots of trips to baja with a few friends and quite a few boards on the roof would be in store. I've had a hell of a time finding something within my budget of 10k that isn't a complete beater, and I don't have a shop or even a garage in which to fix something up. I thought I found her, but the owner wouldnt accept my offer. He called me back and willing to accept. I havent really been able to compare prices cause its a one of a kind van so I was wondering what you guys think. Its a 1986 Dodge B Shorty Van, original owner pampered the **** out of it and garaged it through out its life, about 5 years ago, he had it professionally converted it with a 1992 Dodge Ram 4x4(Dana 44, 9" rear with a LSD) he also installed a 360 crate motor and new tranny, gave it a fresh paint job, new carpet, seats, tires, shocks etc. Its one beatiful specimen, thing is insanely clean, body is 10/10, interior is 9/10, you couldnt find a single speck of rust on it. Drove like a dream(compared to all the pathfinder vans Ive checked out), Yes, I know the b vans are unibody, it was professionally built by a rock crawler guy, who reinforced it quite a bit, and frankly then most I'd do with it are some light trails and mostly beach driving, what else, new rims, fresh 35's, everything works, AC, power windows, etc. And hes claiming hes averaging 15 mpg. 180,000 miles, 36000 on rebuild. Is it worth 10? I mean, Ive seen clean quadravans with high miles sell for almost 10, granted they were diesel. Your 2 cents would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like I have to reiterate how clean this thing really is, photos don't do it justice, It feels more like a restored hot rod than a 4x4 van

Compared to other $10k vans you won't find one with 36k on the engine.
Sounds like the owner took really good care of it- huge plus.

From what you said it sounds like a great van.

If the info is accurate, and you dont mind the negatives that you already know about, it sounds like a great buy.

What a beauty! I have 0 experience with vans but it seems like a good deal to me if the condition is exactly as you state. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Seems like a good buy - I'd rather have an unadulterated canvas versus abandoned project anyhow.
It begs "Mystery Machine" livery, too...

It looks great but I wonder about the tire size vs. wheel well size. It sure looks like those tires would rub with much compression at all. Not a reasons to pass on it, just a reason to trim it, lift it, or buy smaller tires.
I don't know, maybe it's fine and I can't tell by just a few wide angle pictures.

Not a negative but my old Dodge always seemed to have carb issues. May not be an issue with this one, just something to keep in mind.
