Out of curiosity, what drew you to the Blue Sea 5026? Simple solution, and cost effective?
I like them, had used one for a year until I had a close call with it caked full of mud and water. If using these, might want to consider the fact they are not intended to be exposed to the elements. On a Vessel, they are installed in places where there isn't contact with the water, mud, or elements. i.e.; enclosed engine bay, cabin, etc. <- remember, I mean on a boat.
How do you like the IBS? gotten to use the features on it yet? Is the low battery indicator loud?
I have used Blue Sea products for years and they have never failed me. So, yes, simple and cost effective. Regarding your issues with mud and water, I hate mud and go easy in water. I generally don't camp and wheel in locations with mud, especially substantial enough to become caked within the fuse block high atop the wheel well. I just won't be there.
The IBS works as advertised. I've only used it during normal operations and I have yet to drain the either battery enough to hear the alarm. I've only pulled the AUX battery down to around 50%.
Take care!
