Any ideas about how to combine a step stool with storage would be appreciated. We now have a pop up camper and need a "first step" to step up into the camper and because storage is at a premium we need the step to also provide storage. When we just had a truck shell we had a "step on box" that served for both storage and stepping up onto the tailgate. The old box does not fit our new right and was a much too heavy and awkward box anyway. With the new rig we have experimented with a 21" long x 10" wide x 9" high Husky tool box from Home Depot which has the perfect dimensions and is light weight but we would not stand up to hard usage. We looked at standard steel tool boxes but they are little heavier and narrower than ideal. Any ideas for a step-on storage box that would meet most or all of the following specifications:
In the range of 18-22" long and 9-12" high and 9-14" wide
Sturdy enough to withstanding stepping down on and stand up to frequent use
Lightweight - aluminum or plastic would probably be best
Good space utilization
Weather tight or at least resistant
