That's OK, we'll talk slow. :)

Nice.

I would stick with a 100, as it's comfortable, reliable, and capable. I have a 00, but maybe an 03 or 05, then sliders, rear bumper, lift, tires and a roof rack. Possibly a trailer, if budget allows. Drive all around North America.

5.3 conversion in my 97Fzj80, from TLC. $34-6k and rebuild my trailer. That would take care of $40k.

OK, you guys know I'm just kidding - but I did wonder why the OP posted this in the Land Cruiser forum. Maybe he is wanting to convert?

Plane tickets, hotels, rental cars for my wife and I to:

Alaska, Hike Denali National Park and eat moose burgers.

Then to Boston (wife's choice) drink lots.

Dublin, drink more. Get kicked off the Jameson factory tour. Send home a lightly used defender 90 in dark green.

Italy, eat lots and drink more. Rent something red with no roof.

Talk about those trips for the next 50 years.

Ive already got a 95 diesel troopy. I might use the money on a turbo diesel implant and interior fit out and spend the rest on shipping it to North America and do a circumnavigation and maybe South America as well.
But if it had to be spent on a vehicle ,it would be the best HDJ78 I could find.

Considering you started this on christmas, did someone get a 40k christmas present?!

Id buy a few misc items...and sit on it for a year or so until I really decide what I want to spend it on...

Or I'd buy a 2012 4Runner TE!

I would probably wipe the dust off this old project and make a resto mod out of it with a decent modern drivetrain and then add a nice slide in camper.

I'd probably fly to (Australia, South Africa or New Zealand), buy a Nissan Patrol and overland for a couple of months then sell the Patrol and fly home. Or do some refreshing on my current truck, drive to Alaska for a few months and spend some time on someone's homestead to learn living off the grid.

Ok I got an Insurance payout for permanent dissability so I did the following. Hope it helps.
Paid all debts.
Paid Fiancees credit card off. Purchased her a Nikon camera , ipad, Macbook, New Blackwolf turbo tent, hot water shower and tent, New camp chair, Gas BBq, Gas light, House Stereo, New TV for her bedroom, Bought her Daughter a Nikon, Her son a car, My son a Motor bike, My Daughter a Nikon and assorted Nikon lenses,
I then purchased a 1986 HJ60 5 Speed Diesel Landcruiser and spent $$$$ fixing everything, including winch, uhf radio, sat phone, Driving lights and a camper trailer.

Retired and Living life to the full.

Tim, congrats on what you were able to do with it but how can one retire on just $100k? Even at $20k/yr you're talking 5 years of retirement unless at that point you can tap into another bucket like a pension or a retirement savings account.

I'd put about $10k into the LX450 I have now, and spend the other $30k on exotic alcoholic drinks made from local fermented grains at wherever my little truck took me.

(The point being there is no vehicle that tempts me more than the vehicle I have now.)

I'd finish all off grand plans for my truck and spend the rest on a several week trip.

I would mod my current truck.
-Paint & Body: $1,500(already been quoted by a local guy)
-OME 2" lift: $1,000
-turbo 22re: $3,000
-33's: $900
-4.88s: $700
-bumpers, sliders: $1,000
-I would redo the interior with nice seats a locking console, etc: $1,200
-Dual cases: $1,300
That would only be about: $8,000-$8,500

I'd trip it out west to Utah, Colorado, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Texas, etc: $5000

I'm at $13,000. I have $27,000 left.

I'd buy a FJ60 in mint condition: $12,000.

A few different guns and ammo: $5,000

Outfit myself with new a new canoe, kayak, flyrod, etc: $2000

I'd have $8,000 in the bank for future trips, gas, insurance.
