If you used this once - it would be worth the price - right?!?!

For $99, it'd be worth trying out.

You'd be surprised how many inexpensive items like this perform reasonably well. I may not want to rely on it for life and death situations or for constant duty on a work site, but for basic supplemental power requirements it doesn't look bad.

Try it out and let us know how it works! :sombrero:

Yeah - i am on my way to check it out. This reminds of me of those cheapie air pumps - I got one and it works GREAT - just as good as my buddies $350 unit and I bet I use mine more often. $100 aint the end of the world and it just might be the uber deal. More info this PM!

I would give it a shot , if I did not already have a small generator.
I took a chance on a larger unit and it has been just fine: Bargain Generator

Look around for the same unit somewhere locally. At the counter ask how you can save on the purchase. They can do up to 15% off. Sure seems like I saw this unit selling for $79, marked down $20. Add to that another percentage off at the register and they were down around $70.

Maybe not a unit that you would want to go to the moon with? I have no plans for moon travel. There may be issues with replacement parts? Hope to never need any.

Let us know how it works out.

... its a 2 stroke, so I bet it's loud and stinky....gotta mix the fuel/oil...hmmmm
Check out Redline's smokeless 2-cycle oil. At least that will take care of the "stinky" problem.

The problem with the cheapie air pumps is one works great for a long time and the next one fails on it's first use. We call it infant mortality in the electronics biz. I would suggest you give the genset a good work out ASAP, at a minimum run it the max # of hours called for in the break in.

Remember that a 1200 watt generator isn't going to power much around the house.

An average residential fridge takes anywhere from 500 - 800 watts to run, but as soon as the motor turns on it grabs over 3 - 5 times that for a few seconds. Furnace blower does the same.

Just something to keep in mind if you are considering a generator for disaster recovery. Also a convincing argument to change to low wattage bulbs and get an Engel for the house :)

Checker Auto will commonly give 10% on units, especially if you call in first to see if they have them, and since you are having to wait.....anyway, worth the asking.

I have a small, coleman 1800W that is buily like the Hondas, bought it refurb'ed from home Depot for $98 and it has been awesome.

I also have abig yellow electric start Champion 8000W, same brand they sell at Checker, that I bought from a friends tool shop for $450 and it runs great too, some times the cheapie brands are not bad!

I prefer the buy it once nad forget it. There's only one word in generators to remember and that is "HONDA" you get what you pay for.

This lil 2000 watt is perfect for camping and large enough to get the job done yet quiet and fuel effiecent.

I bought the generator in question for a few reasons.

1) It was cheap ( less than $100 cdn, )
2) It was light (2/3 of another optima, which was the alternative)
3) It uses a fuel that I have around for my saw and weedwacker. I have no use for unmixed gasoline.
4) It is disposible. When I back into a tree with it on the tire carrier or somebody liberates it, I'll not weep.

Is it anything like a Honda? Nope.

I have the EU1000. We used it for the first time in three years last weekend. It started on the first pull. (Of course I ran the carb dry before storage.)
I like the 1000 because it is very light and quiet. Our guest didn't even realize it was running until I shut it off.
It's really not big enough to do more than charge the trailer 12V system.
