Can you hear it?

Just did OEM steering rack, tie rod ends and lower ball joints on my double cab. Steering rack was a pita!

Yea the steering rack sucks. I just did all that too.

I can hear it. Gets louder every day haha not screaming yet but a very loud rumble.

Hmm, they're not bad..just remember to lock the steering wheel with the seatbelt.

Keep up the good work monte!!

Cheers buddy!

ha!

I figure i should own a tacoma that doesn't let the front wheels fly off :p already have one that likes to let that happen haha

Doesn't matter for you now, but there is a gentleman on TW who puts together great wheel bearing kits.

That is for 2nd gun hub assemblies. I don't thin he does kits for 1st gens. totally different design. While 1st gens are much much much harder to swap out. They las about 4-5x as long as 2nd gen wheel bears sometimes.

In pursuit of a pulsing rumbling sound. I replaced the front wheel bearings.

Over $500 later..

still have the noise..

Sigh...oh well. Least those are done.

Do you have any unusual wear patterns showing?

Nope. Tires are wearing great.

I jacked the rear axle up and spun the wheels. Noise is on the driver rear tire for sure. Im pretty set on the axle bearing but am going to inspect the rear drum and pads first.

Love it brother! I enjoyed your last 2 trip reports and all the photos as well!!!!! Bummer about your diff exploding and shortening your trip :(

Curious about this truck, have you noticed any annoyance with the shortened bed as compared to your full size bed on your other truck pertaining to cargo?

Thanks man! I appreciate that.

I need to finish that last one. Then i will start on my longest trip yet which because of the bad front diff. I took this truck :) It was a different packing scheme that is for certain. But it worked out great. Having the space in the cab was helpful and we used it a lot. The truck was pack FULL of stuff, more then id ever packed. Remarkably, I still had a little room in the bed.

I had all the same stuff i bring with Frank. Fridge got moved into the cab as did all the food and our bags and sleeping bags. All the other stuff stayed out back. Worked great.

Man, I'll be looking forward to your next installments!!! :)

Thx for answering the question! Cargo space can be quite a conundrum when changing footprints, but it makes sense that what you gave up in the bed you made up for in interior space.
