Yup, after a LONG hiatus of exploring other vehicles from a 1986 VW Westfalia van to a 1990 E-350 extended body 4x4 van on 35s, I needed to ditch the 2 vehicles (and associated car loan) and combine into one vehicle. So I sold it all, paid off ALL my debt and put myself into a 2004 Jeep WJ Limited with Quadra-Drive. I'm quite pleased! If you saw my previous Jeep build, you know I'm all about quality - a 1997 XJ on Long arms, 33s, lockers, etc.....but that won't be for a while as it won't be as extreme bc a DD/Expo truck doesn't need to climb Mt. Everest - plus I have a dirtbike to do that.

Yes, I have a hitch rack I've used since the Westy. I'll likely add the same Airlift bags I had on the Westy to compensate when I carry it.

Engine oil changed
Brake lines flushed
Ujoints...well, I had a vibe from the front rear driveshaft joint. Went to replace but the shaft is pretty rusty that I can't seat the new joint! Have to take it to a driveline shop.

Tow hitch going in Thursday!

Nice looking rig. Just picked up the same thing, in the limited style.
My Montero fell apart so went back to the tried and true JEEP!
Mine needs very little, new shocks and springs will about do it.

Cant wait to see what your doing with yours.
The cargo space is pretty small, time to rehash what needs to come with.

Well, the vibe is still there. Going to remove the front shaft tomorrow before Super Bowl and test. If still there, it could be front cv axle? Torque converter? It's also much louder from the passenger seat.

I am about to buy one of these as well. Its so hard to find one with everything I want (4.7-quadradrive- < 100k miles). Keep us up to date on what the vibration is. If its a common problem I will be checking for the same thing when I test drive my next WJ.

All fixed. It was the right front bearing. Total fix plus labor: $299.

I also needed a new TPS (throttle position sensor) because I'd go into neutral or park and the rpm would jump to 2,000 and hold there. Also while driving, it would have some rpm flux (2-300rpm). Cost of part: $106 at dealer bc everyone online said the OEM TPS is best.

Now I have a perfect Jeep which cost only a few bills over purchase price (which I ALWAYS plan for).

To test for bearing vibes, drive to 35mph. Listen for vibe from 35-70mph. It increases with speed and just gets louder.

Then, go on a surface street and take some corners to find out what side it's coming from.

For driveshaft u-joints: just get under the car and check for any play or clicking on both shafts. They also create a driveline vibe at certain speeds.
