So
Went out today to actually test the theory on how awesome this car really is.
Stock 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5 premium.
245/65-17 cooper AT3.

I have to say, i really am impressed with the capabilities of this car. Mud/water holes that came over the hood at times, aggressive hills with both mud, water covered rocks and of course dirt. The entire area is dealing with melting snow, 2 days of rain, and cold temps up until today.

I have some video from inside the car im working on cutting from about 2 hours of footage. I couldnt find my suction mount, so no outdoor footage.
Had to get winched up a HUGE "hill" that two other jeeps couldnt get up, so i didnt feel too bad.

Past that, Xmode did its job, had ZERO issues on a "medium" level trail and once i lift it, it will be 100% problem free.

not too bad for a wagon IMO. I am officially confident in taking it pretty much anywhere. Once i fab up the steel bumper and winch mount, ill be 100% confident in what/where it can go.

Nice. I too was surprised by what my 2010 OBS was able to do. Limited only by clearance and its lack of low range gearing.
A few things to think about. Water to the hood = the possibility for hydrolock. These cars car and will put through just about anything. Just becasue the AWD is awesome does not mean the air intake is. Also, not sure about the 15's but you might want to make sure that you check on the location of your diff breathers. Subarus while epic cars were not designed with deep water in mind. Relocation mods should be easy. Think about some under body skids. I was all set up to get my self a set for my outback sport but ended up with a tacoma instead... still not sure on how that saved me money ahhaaha.

Great car, it will take you a great many places. If you have not already check out dirtyimprezza for a cool community and some good ideas. There are also some really awesome parts that you can have shipped over from the land of oz if you can afford the shipping. best of luck.

its a stock subaru. there is no engine noise. or exhaust note....just some whirring going on

besides, you would have just heard an adam carolla podcast. not the engine lol

How do you like the coopers? I ran into a kid with an XV sporting those with some miles on them and he said so far he really liked the tire.

Next tire set on the 2010 OB I may try and get spousal approval ;-) It will be easier if we do indeed rack up some camping trips this summer with the OB as the primary transport. Currently running BFG Touring tires which have been really good and have seen some off road use but any really rocky stuff I'd like a little more beefy tire. As for traction all these years I've never had a Subaru traction issue even with stock tires, I think it comes down to tire durability when you air down a little thats probably the most important with the Subarus.

in mud and slick areas it will matter. make or break it actually. in just dirt roads/gravel etc they would be perfect. I got beefier because I did get this as a dedicated camping/offroad rig for fun. I go a few times a month at this point
