Importing German Camper Van Pössl 2Win Vario

I'm on my second day of research about importing a camper van from Germany. The van is a Fiat or Citroen based camper. The "chicken tax" is a huge bump in the road. The Camper in question has two-3 point safety belted passenger seats in the back, plus the two front seats. Does that classify it as a passenger vehicle? Passenger vehicles are exempt from the 25% "chicken tax". Thanks for your input.

When I looked if it had a bathroom, ie "plumbed" toilet and shower it's an rv no matter what, that was a long time ago however when a buddy was trying to import a unimog

"Chicken Tax" was orginally written for small pickup work trucks. In that context, this thing goes nowhere near that, so i really doubt it'll be considered for that tax.

However, this is not a historic vehicle over 25 years old, how do you expect to get it certified for road use???

Also, even though this is essentially a ram promaster, the engine may have some differences, it'll be hard to get parts and service.

The engines on the ram promaster and the fiat and citroen vans are completely different...

Thanks y'all. I assumed some of the engines and emissions were compatible. Still looking into it. I'll post up what I come up with. No, I'm not rich.., famous in my own mind though.

Thanks again for the info. Today, I found articles stating the 3 liter was delayed at some point due to emission standards in the US. I guess there are some differences.
The Fiberline route may be the answer.

Importing less than 25 year old vehicles into the states is for the rich and famous only . . .

Not really!

See here's a 19% tax on most thing, like cars e.g. IF you EXPORT anything outside European Union you can get the tax back- at least if it's sold by a dealer.
