improving and repairing my 110 travel vehicle

Those sliders look alot like the Mantec ones. I really like the idea of the jacking recepticles on the side, without them there is only one place to jack up the side of a defender, on the outrigger.

very tastefully done truck. hate to take this OT, but where do you get an attachment for the jackall holes in the sliders? i have these on my sliders and haven't been able to find an adapter for my hi-lift

What you need is this: http://www.roversnorth.com/store/p-4643-adaptor-for-hi-lift-jack.aspx

I reinstalled the Saftey Devices roof rack on my new roof, It worked on the older style roof but the ribs hit the middle bars on the rack and I was not able to tighten down the clamps all the way. This rack is pretty light, I am able to take it off and put it on by myself with the right technique! I am considering adding some Hella Rallye 4000 compact lights to it, not sure how bad the glare would be though when driving trails or back roads at night. Maybe bumper mounted lights would be better?
To counteract the extra weight on the roof I have a sway bar in the rear in addition to heavy duty rear springs.

I love reading about 110 resto's. Great job! I often toy with the thought of how nice it would be to have the older style doors where you could take the top off; almost a pseudo convertable. Yours is a good point about one of the down falls of the older style. I guess the check straps couldn't be retro fitted?

The newer check straps could be fitted. I had nothing against the older doors, they were just completely rusted and worn out so easier to replace with newer ones. It is nice to have the whole window roll down rather than slide just half open.

Here is what I am working on now:

So far I cleaned out the oil pan and fitted a new head gasket, next up timing belt and valve adjustment.

My own bias here: even taken to bits those 110's look fantastic. If I so much as leave the hood open on my Bronco the driveway looks like a junkyard. But you could scatter parts from a Defender all over the yard and it would just look like an English estate.

My neighbors disagree. I got a ****ty coment just for having the arb rtt open to air out before using it this weekend.
