Wow! So many responses!
Thanks guys.... I've learned a lot here.
I think one of our problems was that we were in a very small REI bivvy. Two people could fit tightly. On top of that the rainfly was in full action due to the pooring rain and to make matters worse we had no fan. After reading the post and considering our options I actually think we got off pretty easy.
A couple of things I'm going to do for the future.... (can't stop camping in FL in summer, love it too much.)
- Make some sheet inserts for the sleeping bags
- Pickup a 02 cool battery powered fan
- Use the larger coleman tent in hotter weather
- Pickup two cots
- Lastly when I can afford it get some lighter weight bags
