in-cab battery - AGM or gel?

Anyone have an opinion which is the safer, more suitable battery type for mounting in the cab?
Non starting application, deep cycle to run 12V accessories in my 24V BJ74.
I have an email in to Deka (they make both types) but haven't heard back yet.

A BJ74 Land Cruiser. I'll likely mount it in a rear drawer/storage unit. Charged with a 24/12V converter.

I know that RV's must have the batteries in a chamber that is sealed from the occupied area and vented to the outdoors. I have to assume there is some good reason for that.

I know that VW Beetles had the battery under the back seat but that occasionally gave folks a bit of a shock on bumpy roads!!

Only Valve Regulated AGM batteries can be mounted inside. The Optima Group 31 yellow top is not valve regulated. Lifeline and Deka offer this feature on theirs.

In you decide to use an Optima 31 yellow, there is a vent tube in the center of the battery where the side meets the top that is for connecting a vent tube that you can route to the outside. Note that this is only on their 31.

The main differences between Gel & AGM besides the higher price of gel is that the gel will cycle more. From a performance side, the AGM will work better at lower temperatures than the gel.

The Gel battery I had recommended to me was a Gel-Tech. It is valve regulated and is actually one of the cheaper options I've come across. I'm pretty sure they are made by Deka. It's specs are excellent.
I've been finding conflicting reports about the gels gassing though, which is my main concern. Having a battery mounted inside still kind of freaks me out a bit. So I would be willing to use a battery that was maybe not quite as appropriate for the application if it was safer.
