Wow, I wish I had the balls to quit everything Ive got going, including my job, and drive around the world. Great article and Id love to see how it goes. I wonder if hes been on here before? Im a new poster but a lurker for a very long time.

I think his budget is off by about 10K, but that's just me.

I am pretty much doing the same thing right now, but just the lower 48 and Alaska over a 14 month period. My trip is based around an actual project though:

Everything is more expensive in the USA, perhaps that's why he can get by with a smaller budget?

While that is true, there is a lot of free camping to be had in the US by virtue of safety, and traveling solely in NA mitigates the costs of shipping a vehicle and/or crossing borders. Hotels rooms are more expensive in the US however.
