Well, it was a fight at Walmart all the way, but I got 5/40 synthetic in it today. After I EXPLICITY
instructed them twice, they still managed to overfill it to 17 quarts and the filter was leaking.
I caught it all before ever even leaving the parking lot and after much to do, they got it squared away,
and even GAVE me an extra gallon of it to boot. And, the manager did some magic at the register,
and in total, I only shelled out $85.95. And yes, that is with the Motorcraft 1995 filter.
They tightened the first filter and asked me to drive it for a bit and come back. But it was still leaking,
so they replaced it, and it is now right as rain. So, it gave me a chance to cycle some of the reservoir oil thru,
and then get a new filter and 2 more quarts of new oil. I know the reservoir oil is debatable, and I might not
have driven it enough to really make a difference, but it's something.......
I normally do ALL of it at home, but it is cold in Dallas right now, and I don't have access to all the gear needed.
SO, did it make a difference, you ask? Not really. It was still chugging and missing/loping a bit.
This evening, before I took it out, I put the stock tune back on it, and it ran like a new one. Even cold. NO chugging.
I will contact Innovative Diesel about their tune, and see what they say. The stock SCT Livewire tunes all do the same,
so it might just be that my motor just doesn't like tunes. I dunno. I mainly want a tune for the trans shift points, so I will
look into that. It has plenty of power at stock, with having the intake, exhaust, turbo, and fuel upgrades.
Crisis averted, it seems.
