Installed Sand Ladders

Yep, we are official posers! There's a set of sand ladders on the rig now.. yep.. full fledged posers now! We can drive straight to Starbucks now without fear!

All kidding aside.. im running out of mods (yeah right) and they will come in handy for Surf and Turf 2007 :)

Removed the shovel and axe that were mounted on the side with quickfist. I never really liked having a axe that anyone could just grab when your not attending the rig anyways. Relocated the axe inside the drawers system and going to mount the small shovel somewhere else.. dont know yet.

Anyways, on the with the pics of the **bling. . .

Went with the 48"x12" instead of the massive 60"x14" suckers that weigh 6lbs more. These only weigh 10lbs each and i dont need any more weight in our rig thank you :)

One heck of a close fit with the door!

And yes, they get yanked off in 30 seconds when we deploy the tent. No biggie, they're super light and mounted with wing nuts. The mounting kit is from British Pacific ( you can make your own kit really easy.. not like its rocket science).

May I suggest some additional securing for long trips on dirt track? Wingnuts have an annoying habit of loosening and you don't have much clearance there. The last thing you want are the nuts loosening and the ladders vibrating against the top of your doors and abrading the paint off.

What I was thinking too.

Suggest drilling a small hole in the tip of a wing on each nut, and then one or more, as appropriate, in the sand ladder(s). Use a carb throttle return spring btwn a wing and the ladder oriented to tighten the nut under spring force. Ideally the spring will be close to 90* to the 'line' thru both wings of a nut.
Clear as mud?

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines as you guys (just hadn't had a chance to run out and get what i needed yet).. cause i'd not only hate for them to scratch the paint on the rig.. but also for them to fly off and kill someone god forbid.

Thanks man.

Not really... closest would be... Cleghorn Rd. off the Cajon pass or Big Bear. If you like fire roads (like i do), Indian Truck trail and Main Divide up on top of the Cleveland National Forest.

Whereabouts are you?

Man... what kind of mileage are you getting in that thing??? With just the roof mounted lights on my Xterra, I was getting the better part of 14mpg mixed driving.

Looks good none the less.

Pete! hahahahhahaha! That's right, we can no longer go on any trips. Now that we have installed a set of sand ladders we no longer can travel off road. We have to stick to Walmarts, Indoor malls, Starbucks and Rodeo Drive. Posers! lol

LAOutback.. The cruiser is about as aerodynamic as a BRICK. We are getting about 11mpg right now. When we go up steep grades on the highway quarters fly out the exhaust :wings:

That's the Lowrance GPS+WAAS Satellite receiver next to the snorkel.

Yes, the fridge in the back is a disguise. It's actually a boom-bastic subwoofer and snorkel is a painted "World of Wheels" trophy. That white thing: it's a permanently installed secondary flash so that when spectators take pictures with their cell phone cameras it automatically white balances it :)

In all seriousness, amazing truck. You've really put something special together. One of the coolest 80's around!

Ok, now i just fell out my chair!!! That was funny! Yeah the fridge is like one of those fake Nitrous bottles that's a sub woofer! Pete your on fire!!! LOL!

I think if you can't poke fun at yourself, then who can you poke fun at? That's how i've always looked at it.

Thanks for the kind words.
