Installing an LSD or a Locker, what should I be paying?

Is it the Dakota in your avatar? I would assume there was a factory option for LSD. I would try to find a whole used axle that has LSD and just swap out the whole axle yourself. However, due to the age of the vehicle, the clutches on the LSD may need to be changed.

I've been trying to find a factory LSD for over year and have not even found one single lead. The issue is none of the LSD equipped axles have tags, so it's basically impossible to find at a yard unless you jack up random trucks individually. So, yeah, neat idea, but it doesn't look like it will ever happen. I also have ads on CL and FB for a factory LSD axle. Have not heard one single response so far.

You could find the carrier from a Jeep with the tracloc LSD. There are bound to be some in a junk yard near you. If they use the same width axle, get the center and shafts from a 29 spline for a little more strength.

Go with a true trac. It is the best choice for what you describe. A locker is largely pointless unless you're wheeling hard enough to lift tires off the ground and even then a True Trac works with some brake application.
