Insulation of topper

Hello folks,
So I recently picked up a topper for my Sierra and I am finally in a place to set it up for travel purposes. I want to insulate the topper (and maybe the box) as best as possible for the winter camping season. I need the ability to revert back to a standard truck with little hassle.

If this is in the wrong forum, sorry, if a mod could move it to the right one.

Thanks,

J

fiberglass or aluminum?
Aluminum is easy since it has a subframe inside, fiberglass takes some more work but most have a sheet of plywood in the roof that you can screw to if needed even if its to hold temp while the adhesive sets.
With a fiberglass more of the cold will come in from the truck bed, you'll want to insulate there first.

Reflectix is a good call, but poses R&R problems in the bed since it needs to be dual-duty. I would suggest looking into something like the bed inserts that used to be so common. Most of those were cheesy and poorly designed and built, but the concept would do what you're asking for. Could incorporate any of the various bed storage ideas into the fabrication of one, and also put the insulation on it rather than the bed itself.

I would insulate the topper directly. Reflectix is a simple solution, though there may be better options.

Bed Rug for the bottom.
Indoor / Outdoor carpet for the topper
Rubber gasket all along the rails.

Most topper shops can do the carpet. You want a good texture for two reasons: heat retention and dissipate condensation.

Your biggest 'leak' is going to be the tail gate area.
