insurance?

That was my assumption too. But then I priced it out. Basic insurance was like $50/month. With theft, was like $52, and full liability was $56. Something like that. It was a no brainer for me to get full insurance.

Ive always figured if you were on a bike, and the bike caused enough damage to the car to warrant a serious claim, you´d probably be dead in the first place.

It's distressing to me to see attitudes like this. You are piloting a vehicle that can kill people, (besides you and your possible passenger,) and do lots of property damage.

Why should your death absolve you of your responsibility to those who you've injured, or whose property you've damaged?

When I get insurance, the last thing I am worried about is the bike itself. I carry insurance for my protection, both liable and someone else's fault.

Same here. And if you haven't seen significant damage from a bike vs. car accident you just aren't looking. I've seen plenty; some of it was the rider's fault, some of it the driver's. Cars these days are designed to absorb impacts and even what appears to be minor damage can indeed be much more significant. With the ever increasing number of uninsured driver's on the road- especially illegals who you have almost no chance of taking to court- it's crazy not to carry insurance.
