Insuring a truck with custom tray bed

I just built a custom bed for my truck (like a Bowen tray bed) and my insurance company (USAA) won't allow me to add anymore than $5,000 to the value of my truck. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Yep. Same here. We did agreed value, sent pictures and receipts of everything. Presented our value, and got it insured for that amount.

Ok, I'm back. I tried both Hagerty (they won't insure a truck as new as mine) and Farm Bureau (they won't insure a truck in Maine). Any other thoughts?

Have zero experience with them, but maybe try Tredder? Seems to be a company that insures the extras while your "normal" insurance company insures the general vehicle. Saw them in EJ and ads on the podcast.

USAA is pretty hard to beat in terms of service and no questions asked. I wonder if you could get a rider from another company to augment your current policy.

Or, take the risk for anything above $5,000.
