Introducing Goliath, Purpose built OBS F-350

Nice job! Aside from the turning radius I love those square Fords.

You're not kidding, I contemplated building a trailer using the same basic idea with the boxes and roof top tent and pulling it behind our 100 series cruiser but with it clocking 12 mpg with a light load and the Ford pulling 22 mpg with the cummins and it's not my daily driver so it made more sense.

I've owned many P-7100 pumped 12v Cummins trucks, and many OBS Fords. The two are a match made in heaven!

I couldn't agree more. I used to have a side business restoring old army trucks M715's, deuces, 5 ton's, a bunch of odds and ends and even had a heavily modified M920 heavy hauler with knuckle boom for a few years so I was never short of trucks just fueling stations. I also had an early 07 mega cab cummins dually that was ************** but the payment sucked for a truck that was never used after I shut down that business. Since nothing out there really met all of my desires I had to build one and this was the best baseline platform to start with in my opinion. The steps that I built are welded to a section of salvaged deuce and a half frame that I bolted along the entire underbelly of the truck to add strength and rigidity, with the 3 point mount on the flatbed it won't have any binding issues to stress out the frame either.

That looks great. What else do you have left to do?

Tonight I will get the under bed boxes mounted up with some angle iron and my ARB fridge with all the goodies that go along with it will be here on Monday which will be hard mounted in the bed of the truck with security hardware. I need to wire the LED's under the truck/flatbed/overhead rack; the lightbars, switches/relays, install and wire compressor, inverter, battery isolator etc, 4-channel amplifier, cab sound deadening, new door speakers, install seats from a 97 truck, wire back up camera and rearview mirror, SS brake lines, figure out my cruise control (luxury) and if I can get all of that done I want to get an upholstery shop to make me a heavy canvas cover with push snap buttons and bead rope that I can use to go over the boxes under the tent to conceal and protect anything I have in the back. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but that's the general idea.

Is that for tying that ocean liner to the dock?

Nice build. Going to look a lot like the military ambulance or that combat field service vehicle build when you've got the cap built.

LOL you would think so with how much she started to sag in the back end. I didn't even get the tent on it yet and it was sitting level so I knew these were in the forecast. I also added bag cups to the set so they separate at the bottom under droop. One of my build ideas I had was to use a utility box and throw a tent on it but it would be overkill on storage and I wouldn't be able to use my gooseneck with it. With two pins I can remove the upper rack and with 8 bolts I can remove both boxes if necessary.

My son was born on the 4th of July. He will be 31 this year.
When we talk of his childhood memories, it is always of our trips, our cool vehicles through the years and our shared time in his Boy Scout adventures.
The money spent on toys and clothes are faded memories.
Being a Dad is the greatest responsibility you can be blessed with. Putting the effort in to the truck will pay dividends in the future you have yet to realize, but will be well worth it in the end.
I look forward to the completion of the truck and your trip reports, great job Dad!

Those are very kind words, thank you. We already tent camp about six times a year and I know that number will grow as well as the distances we travel, my goal is at least a solid week once a year to a new region on top of the local camping. I too have fond memories of road trips and camping with the family when I was young, I look forward to forging new memories as a family.

Went and saw the guys at Diesel Power Products/Offroad Power Products and they did a photo shoot for Adventure Sole which is a Spokane based company that makes the RTT and awning that I have. They will send me the edits when they are done but here's a couple crappy cell phone pics instead:safari-rig:.

Not much to report after this weekend, being a prior service combat vet I have a lot of brothers all over the world, I spent the day with some of them and drove my friends LMTV in the Torchlight Parade on Saturday full of Vets in the back, it's also called the "armed forces parade" to some, wife and son in company. I did however get the broken bolt out of the cab where the rear bench bolts down, got the under bed box brackets (that's a mouthful) built, painted, and mounted. After that I clearanced the front bumper a smidge for the pesky turn and bounce rub. Then I tapped the feet of my puma air compressor and threaded some 1/4" rubber isolators on it and solid mounted it into the floor of the box after reinforcing the floor with an additional piece of 1/4" aluminum diamond plate. Waiting on the UPS dude to bring me more parts for the electrical phase of this build. Also included engine bay photo's per request.
Eldgen.
