Introducing myself and need help

I have been looking lurking around on this site for a while and love it. My wife says I'm addicted to it and maybe she's right. I don't know but it could be worse. I would like to start to build my truck and was wondering if you all on here can help. It's a 2006 Duramax 4x4 with lockers in the rear. I know it's not the most ideal truck to go off road but it's paid for. If anyone could photoshop some things to do to it I would appreciate it or find something else.

Truck is getting Revo's and the black wheels put on it today so I'll post another pic after that is complete.

That's awesome! That's what I was thinking. Thanks so much for the fast response ... I knew I went to the right place. Is it worth doing to an independent front suspension though? Light to moderate wheeling is what I like to do. Not into the rock crawling or mud, just want to get off the paved roads some.

Welcome to the site. Once you spend some time here your head will be spinning with too many ideas! There are a lot of Toyotas, Nissans, Mitsubishis, etc here with independent front suspensions.
I'm also starting a full size buildup.

Welcome aboard. You have a great rig to start with, and it being paid for is a definite bonus, nothing wrong with it being IFS. Gear's link is exactly what I had in mind too for your truck when looking at it.

Either that, or you can do something like Adventure Trailers Truck Conversion probably could use an old M101 trailer or something like it as a foundation.

And yes, this site can be an addiction. Don't want a cure though.

Hey 02TahoeMD! Thanks, your rig is what inspired me to do it. I really like your ARB bumper conversion and snorkel. I would like to do the same thing to mine. Can I see some side shots of it? I read and know it's from a Land Cruiser. The weight of the diesel and length of the truck had me double guessing myself if this was a practical rig. I had an FJ60 with a 400 SB in it that I loved but I sold it before I found this site. After a back injury I can no longer drive a stick for a long period of time.

I strongly agree with Michael. Load up the gear and the kids and hit the trail. I guarantee you'll have fun. And when you come home, you'll have some ideas on what to change before the next trip.

What size are your tires and are those the factory Chevy HD wheels you had painted/coated ??
What made you choose the Revos ?
What kind of lift do you have ?
What kind of side bars do you have ?

If you can go out and explore, do it. One of the things that frustrates me the most is I work shift work and my wife runs her own business, so I plan and build a lot more than I "do". I will retire in less than five years and plan on "doing" a lot more (there's that "plan" word again) :snorkel:. Take the kids out while they are young. They could care less whether or not you have lockers, IFS, or the latest and greatest "kit". It's the time together and going out "doing" that can't be replaced. Trucks, in the end, are just trucks, and they are replaceable.

The tires are 285/75/16's. They are the factory aluminum wheels I had powdercoated matte black. It was only $65 a rim. A lot cheaper than new rims.

I had the Revos on my Jeep Liberty and liked them. It was between those and the BFG MT's. Since I do a lot of driving I went with the all terrains.

There is no lift on the truck yet. Just have the torsions turned up.

They are Western step bars and I'll be making rock sliders in the near future for it.
