IPF light question

So brown santa dropped off a shiny box with a set of IPF lights in it...Hooray! :victory: Now i'm trying to figure out the wiring schematic/directions. The schematic seems rather straightforward, however the instructions are a little more puzzling. It has two different sets, one "For vehicles with positive high beam switching" and one "for vehicles with negative high beam switching." What does that mean, and how would I find out which system I've got. The truck is an 05 Tacoma...V6 SR5 if it matters. Any thoughts?

Cheers,
West

Some vehicles use a ground to trigger the relay for the headlights, some send 12v+ to the relay from the switch to trigger the relay. You can test at your switch and figure out if yours is completing the ground or completing a positive 12v circuit.

I BELEIVE (someone correct me if I am wrong) but this is so that when you switch to your high beams, they shut off (there is a law for this). However, most people do not desire this, and simply wire them strait to a regular 12 V source, this way you can have them on or off whenever you want, regardless of whether your high beams are on.

So before you go through the trouble of figuring out what kind of switching your truck does, make sure you want to wire them up that way.

Correct & correct.

I would actually like to put mine on a dual switch, so I can choose to have them on stand-alone or let them be triggered by the high beam switch. That way when your flying up a canyon road you don't have to rush to flip a couple of different switches when you approach oncoming traffic. Then again when do you really need your aux. lights and not your high beams?
