Ironman Snorkel on Pete's Tacoma

So it's done. I finally filled the massive holes in my fender with a snorkel. Now I can effectively go and kill my starter and all my electronics while knowing I look cool doing it... AND Film it with my new GoPro. I am sooo ready for it! Haters Gonna Hate!!

On a serious note though, I really enjoy this thing as it was a complete labor of love. There was a lot of modification to the snorkel as well as the air assembly, so I'm not sure how many people will do this under taking, but I rest knowing my truck is the only with it, for now. Quality product, stout hardware, and if put on the properly intended vehicle, comes with everything you need.

Yes I could have done a Safari Snorkel and I'm sure it all would have gone a little easier. However, the fact that no one has done an Ironman Snorkel yet was too enticing so I jumped at the chance, and I'm glad I did.

Here are some photos!

So you can watch me swim

One of the things I love about this snorkel is the clean look. No name stamped on the side.

I'll do my best to answer any questions but no hating when I don't respond! I'll be gone all of next week.

Sincerely,

Peter

Is it wrong that the first thing I noticed in those pictures is the Iron Pigs in the background? :)

The snorkel looks good- need some pictures inside the engine compartment.

Hey there Pete, which snorkel did you use. I don't see a Tacoma snorkel listed on their site. Is it the Hilux one?

Haha Not wrong at all. My truck is often looked over due to the some of the amazing rigs that come and go at ACC! Thanks though bud!

I used the Prado snorkel from Ironman. From a body line stand point it matches pretty well though in the rear of the snorkel there is a small gap. Photos pending on the engine bay as I work all day today.

Lets see some detailed pics of the snorkel connection to the air filter/intake. Is the truck a V6 or 4?

As stated, photos will be pending on the engine bay as I work all day today. The truck is V6 SR5 with stock air cleaner assembly so no supercharger or fancy stuff.

Interesting to see. I have an 04 Taco that I will be looking for a snorkel for; I wonder if there's one that will fit? I like that it is the style that goes half the fender length as it looks less likely to be ripped at. Plus is would be a perfect straight shot into the intake for my diesel air box.

What do they cost?

VERY curious how the difficult geometry with the factory hole on the inner fender wall workered out, and how the connection was made to the factory air intake - did you retain the factory resonator box?

The trickiest part of the Safari snorkel is definetely forcing the rubber hose that comes with the kit to cooperate and bend to make the connection between the end of the molded plastic snorkel and the factory hole in the inner fender wall. There is a trick to this that Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters explained to me over the phine, which makes it way easier.

I am curious to see if the connection is easier with the iron-man snorkel.

Can you also take a close up of the snorkel intake? I am curious how it compares to Safari Snorkel's design.

Thanks for testing this one out for us!

Found that pic I knew I had showing the trick connection, added it to FB here:

Not trying to hijack but Kurt is that picture just showing the rubber boot attached first? I'm curious since mine is still sitting in the garage waiting on me to get back to it.

Hey guys! Sorry for the delay on this, been super busy as well out of town.

Here are the detailed photos requested and I'll try and take more as necessary.

The head is almost identical to the Safari sans the Ironman stamping. No noises, whistles, or anything. It happened too close to my lift and tire upgrade to say anything for it effecting my mileage.

However this is where it is more beneficial for me as I was able to retain 95% of the original air assembly. The only modification to it was we trimming the lip on the male end that feeds into the fender. It looks a little "gooey" as we wrapped all the joints with FIPJ to further protect against water inhalation.

I really enjoy the thing honestly, well as much as you can "enjoy" a snorkel!
