Switched back to my hardtop and did a trip without the trailer. 17.5% over GVWR with a half tank of gas and three humans aboard (another 498lbs).

Getting ready to decide on a rack and RTT so I went and checked the weight today...

The highlights of the specs...

20' JLUR
Metal Cloak 2.5 GC lift
37" Pats + Fifteen52 Wheels (~96#)
Metal Cloak front bumper
Warn Xeon 10s
LOD rear bumper w/tire carrier
RSE Step Sliders (no extra armor)
Metal Cloak front & rear diff covers + skids

1/2 my camping gear

Looking at a Front Runner (100#), iKamper (160#), CFX45 fridge and the rest of my camping gear and I'll be pushing 6100...

Ugggg, but not the worst I suppose

oh, forgot, going to do a 60% delete on the back seat also, so that will help too

Update after the Front Runner, iKamper and Engle 45 are installed. Full tank of gas this time.



Ugggg on that rear axle, but not much chance of that getting better considering I'm not carrying any spare gas or water right now.

Great data! Thanks for sharing as a benchmark for others. I put an iKamper on top of my trailer, and REALLY like it. Lots of debate, but I think the hardshell RTT designs are better. Especially when set-up/pack-up efficiency is a priority.

Lift kits and oversized tires REDUCE a vehicle's ability to safely carry and tow loads.

Operating near, at, or over the GVWR and/or tow rating in a vehicle modified with oversized tires and/or lift kits, is downright dangerous to the vehicle's occupants and everyone else on the road.

That's one of the reasons we use stock tires and stock suspension on our vehicle. Besides, the stock suspension gives us 16" of travel, and I don't think we'll ever need anything more than the stock 53" tires.

We also try not to overload- on a trip we took recently, we were still 25,000 pounds or so below our GVWR, with three people and all our stuff in it.
