Got the rear end (came out of a 94 LC with disc and abs) put in today, new calipers and disc however the axle is 6 inches shorter in width than the axle I took out (non abs rear end with drums). Tires don't even fill the wheel well in like the front. The junk yard I purchased it from say year 94-95 had different part numbers for the axles with disc compared to the 96-97 He's trying to tell me that the axle they sold me is shorter than 96-97. Is he trying to pull a fast one and anyone have any links to dimensions of the axles?

It bolted right in but as I said theres a size differene and the ebrake cable is longer than it should be.

Please help as I'm trying to get this truck driving to get from school/work asap

sounds like you've got the wrong axle. Question is, what's it out of? Perhaps a 120-series would be narrower. I'm just surprised that you were able to bolt it up.

The 80 series rear full-float axle has six little nuts on the center of the hub, just like the drive plates on the front hubs.

Ebrake cables may be different but width will be the same fo all 80 series. Like above ^^said it should be a full floater, if not its wrong.

Its not uncommon for Toyota to change a part number on the exact same part on different years.

Pictures. My 1st thought was a FF 60 or 70 axle, but those were all drum (plus where would he even get a 70 axle). Need pictures.

The most common "120" on our shores is the 4Runner, which interestingly, has almost the same track width, but more negative off-set wheels. The axle actually should be very close in size. It wouldn't surprise me if the suspension geometry of the 3rd gen (90 series) 4Runner was actually close enough to bolt in. Those, however are a few inches narrower. The axle from an FZJ80 should have
A- a big center differential
B- lots of tube support gussets
C- Full-floater hubs w/ disk brakes. I would assume that's the main reason you got the axle in the first place.
D- Should be about 63.7" wide, face to face. The hubs will be a little wider.
