I wonder if those overseas engines are identical... or if maybe the tolerances are different...?

That's the question of the day.

But why make two different engines? Make it ideal and then spec the oil that it needs.

Or do you make it ideal and spec weird oil for the place with weird emissions?

It is strange all of the sudden we are having a lot of engine failure issues across the board...
 
I thougjt this was a really interesting description of how complicated the engine is.

Apparently that engine has been in the Lexus LS 500 starting in 2017? I couldn't find any recalls on it before 2022, which makes it seem like something other than the base design?
