Couple of mini projects completed - one was to install two USB sockets, a power socket and a flashlight charger at the rear of the centre console.
USB are from the main battery and switched with the car, the six power socket runs from the six battery and is always powered, for running fridge, hand held uhf chargers etc.
The rear panel of the centre console is held in by six press fit clips, and simply pulls outwards from the rest. The cup holder is held in by four screws.
Undid the screws and got rid of the cup holder.
Template made from cardboard to shape the 3mm marine ally plate.
Rough shape cut. Lots of filing and two bends to match the contours of the panel it sits in.
Drilled the holes for the locating tabs - there’s two in the top, two in the bottom.
Drilled the holes for the screws.
Drilled the holes for the USB and power socket.
Grey marine carpet moulded with a heat gun and glued.
Flashlight charger mounted - it’s a Nitecore rechargeable light that’s just awesome!
Sockets mounted.
Still need to run 4mm cable for the sockets and 3mm for the charger. Will be run though and 8 way plug for ease of removal - four pos, four ground. Grounds will be soldered and crimped to an 8mm lug and bolted to the centre console support bracket.
