Glad to hear it is back in action for you and you are back camping. :) We hope not to tell people "how much human" to put into a tent, but from experience I will say two 200-225lb men in that tent has worked without concern. If you do not mind, pm myself some pictures of your rack setup and I can look into possibilities to optimize the performance of the RTT.

So I have been using the tent for almost a year now. I've done over a dozen trips over all kinds of terrain. The tent is holding up well. No major issues. Zippers have been working fine. Overall, it is a huge improvement over the tepui. It's half the weight and on my truck that is very noticeable. This tent is fantastic in warm weather. When its cold, doubling up my sleeping bags keeps me comfortable down into the teens. Its super easy to deploy and pack up. I will never go back to zipper covers; the bungee is fantastic! I've had a few nights of rain. The tent stays dry. The entry will get a little wet (duh) but I'm quick to get in and it's not an issue for me. I pack two sleeping bags in it. One 20 deg double and one 20 deg mummy. Also a med pillow. It makes it a little tough to close as I have to squish it a little to engage the straps. They're a little short and I am considering replacing them with longer straps. but its not a big deal. Sometimes the support legs get dirt in them and it makes it a little tough to extend them or get the feet off. Sometimes the pins in the legs get misaligned and I have to pull them out and reset them. Minor issues. I wish the mattress was thicker, but then it would be heavier. I want the isothermic kit, but I don't want to block the windows lol everything is a trade-off.

Overall I love the tent. It's a keeper and I will be using it a lot. I have a 3 day Anza trip in a couple weeks, a 6 day S. Utah trip at the end of Sep, one week in Moab Oct, 4 days Death Valley in Nov, and a bunch of unplanned trips as well.

Helpful review.

Does a Tepui actually weigh double at 200 plus lbs? Yikes

Tepui listed the weight at 210 lbs without annex. Then I added a 1.5" memory foam topper. It was a heavy sumbtch.

Its a decent tent. All the chinese tents are basically the same. It had some quality issues with the hinges and hardware. But I replaced every bolt and nut with properly sized stainless steel fasteners and on the hinges I added nylon washers. The zipper on the cover was a huge PITA! No matter how careful you were, it would occasionally catch the fabric and then you had to F! with it for a long time to free it up. Plus no matter how much you cleaned and waxed it, the zipper still was hard to zip and the teeth wouldn't always line up. also, the bolts that held the rails to the tent bottom eventually started wallowing out the holes and both rails came loose on me. My buddy had the same thing happen to him only they came completely free and he had to ratchet strap his tent down to finish the trip. He added a second set of rails for a total of 4 and so far so good. I redrilled and added twice as many bolts then sold the tent.

I've seen different weights listed for the Horizon. Somewhere in the this thread I think a rep said 110lbs. The vendor I bought it from says 88 lbs. Then recently I saw somewhere (I think on the JB website) that it was 103 lbs. Whatever the actual weight is, I feel a noticeable improvement in the handling of my truck in turns. I have long travel leafs in the rear so I'm sensitive to sway.

It has now been a 1.5yr-ish. How is the Horizon holding up for everyone? Issues? Likes? Dislikes?

Anyone use the thermal cover in winter?

I haven’t used mine in a year switched to the Alu cab but I used mine hard for a year and a half stayed outside and on the truck full time. I would say for the most part it’s a good tent had a few small issues some wear, some mold a few things that could be made better but all in all I would call it a well made, well designed tent that’s worth the price tag.
