Year One
Full of piddly little aesthetic mods and such.

I purchased it on 3/12/11 from Yokem Toyota in Shreveport, LA. Awesome group of guys over there. The next week I broke her in on a trip to Orange Beach

Now the real mods begin

Installed an OME/Toytec light duty 3" lift. Affectionately known as Operation Gingerlift! Big thanks to Brunes and everyone else in Cajun Yotas that helped out

Then began the search for rubber. Matt (Blueanimal) gave me 4 Firestone Desination MT's that he had laying around and was kind enough to let me borrow his rims until I could get them swapped over

Added a set of Satin Black FJ Cruiser wheels with the Destination MT's

Thanks, the color is what sold me on this truck. Didn't realize at the time how bad it would pinstripe though

Went out and took some pictures around Baton Rouge today. Played with the editor in Photobucket a bit and came up with a few cool shots.

Nice build. Looks great. I have an 07 and love it.

The FJ wheels are a great match for that color. I have a set of FJC Steelies that I'm going to put on mine after the snow season is over (the FJC wheels have MTs on them, which suck in snow, and my stock wheels have a very nice set of Cooper Discoverer M+S snows that are awesome.)

I guess it's my snow-belt mentality, though, that it seems odd to me to spend all this effort to modify a 2wd. Are modified 2wd SUVs common in the South?

I lived in NC from 1992 - 98, and I remember the first time I ever saw a 2wd 4runner at a Toyota dealership in Charlotte in 1996. I looked in the driver's window and said "What the hell, there's no transfer case lever!" Then I crawled underneath the front end to confirm no axle shafts to the front wheels. I didn't even know they made 2wd 4runners until then!

Modded 2wd's are actually more common than you'd expect down here. It's a lot of mud and not many rocks so as long as your tires can dig in most people are good. Definitely regretting not purchasing a 4x4 but they are next to impossible to find down here and I was ready for something new. Probably gonna replace this with a 2013 Cement Trail Teams FJ or a used Mag Gray Trail once I'm done with school
