Jeep Cherokee Espedition Vechicle

Do you anticipate any issues with the exhaust exiting from under the leaf spring? It seems to me an epedition type vehicle should have the flexibility to run "enhanced" suspension and it may just be the photo, but it does look as though larger leafs and or shackles may pose a problem......am I incorrect?

That is a very valid concern, but a quick "U" up ward and then back down to the side would fix this problem. Plus, that jeep looks stock. Add a terraflex or something, and it would be way lower than the exhaust, though still might hit it on flex. Maybe they need to extend it out past the shackle. It is a prototype, but I do like it, as long as the cost isn't prohibitive. There's nothing like throwing 10k into a 1000 dollar shell.

The picture is deceiving, it has plenty of room and yes it is stock suspension. I don't know were you could find a diesel vehicle equipped like this for $12,000-$14,000.

I don't think diesel conversions are illegal on there own. I think as long as you follow your states guidelines and use an EPA approved engine from a US spec vehicle the same age or newer it is allowed.

You are correct, states like Idaho, Montana ect. have no smog and they are exempt. Other states have a 20 year and older clause to be exempt. Some of my customers register there cars with a P.O. box in a exempt county, there are many was to get around this.

Much as I'd love to have one, I have to wonder when the return on investment happens. 12k buys a ****load of gas.

Not just that, 12k + 1-2 k min for a donor shell, and your pretty close to finding a WK with a diesel already. (found a 2wd model with 67k on ebay for 15). Would cost less to do a 4wd conversion, but then again, you might as well just do a WK. 4wd.

First of all that includes the donor shell, and $500.00-$1000.00 buys clean Cherokees all day long with engine or mechanical problems. This is with a new engine, not a used engine, and with the suspension rebuilt. Maybe everyone needs to look at the build sheet again, and do the math.

I guess you didn't read the build sheet with all it comes with, including a new engine that will run on alternative fuel, Were you going to get gas when there is none? I guess I am the only one that can think out of the box.

Don't get your feelings hurt, dude. It looks like a sick diesel swap. At 12k, though, I'd look for something more than an xj's level of refinement.
Maybe if it came with wj seats, upgraded / fatmat interior, wj brakes / control arms, upgrade headlights etc, in short making the vehicles competitive overall with a wk, I could see it. That's just me though. I hope you sell all you can build.
PS you spelled "exhibition vehicle" wrong in the title.

You forgot heated seats, surround sound and GPS so you don't get lost on those rugged trails. Thats "Expedition Vehicle" and you can't edit the title.

Ok, I'll confess: it was childish of me to snipe on your spelling.
Any progress / new pictures ? Super appealing swap.
