Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler

Here's my 1982 CJ-8. It is rust free. I'm just starting to make the modifications to use it on camping excursions. These are not my good doors, and I don't have my swing out tire carrier on in these pics. I'm in the process of modifying the jerry can racks, and basket.IMG_0677.jpgIMG_0676.jpgIMG_0673.jpg

Being a former CJ guy, I had to laugh when you mentioned about "good doors" not being on in the picture. This brought back a lot of memories for me since it seems that my CJ had its fair share of "good" and "bad" parts that I kept switching between--usually to fix rust!!!

Nice CJ-8 BTW!!!

Welcome to Expo!

Here are a few photos of my adventure Scrambler named "Mayahual". Hopefully they will be an inspiration to you.

Joaquin, I have built alot of Jeeps, but always wanted to build a Scrambler for expedition travel. You are a legend to me. Mayahua is definately my inspiration. I have owned this CJ8 for about 4 years now, but haven't done much to it until now. Thanks for the pics. I can't get enough of those.

Thanks Rubicon John. That's funny. I wish you had included some pics.

These were taken way before digital camera days, so I hope they show up okay.

I miss that old jeep!!! It had an AMC 304 V8 with Quadra-trac full time 4wd & Low Range (little lever by the driver seat) Be sure to notice my factory AM radio... :D

Very nice! You should see my radio. It's a Kraco. haha I noticed it's an automatic. My last Scrambler was an automatic. Seemed to be in high demand.

Thanks. It was an auto TH400 (if memory serves me). It was solid, no complaints here.

One of the places that I used to work at had a red CJ-8 snowplow that we used to fight over for driving around the property and of course on snowy days when we'd get to play around with it. Plus, we all got to work on it. I'll try and find some pics of this--yours is in WAY better shape.

Yeah, do that. I'm going to get a list together of the mods I've made so far.
